Fractured Fairytales

String Bean with the Slippery Pole in the background

Last weekend (gee I've been slack on the blogging front) String Bean and I attended Fractured Fairytales. A statewide Guiding event held in Goulburn with over 460 girls attending. Each district had to run an activity with a resulting 20 different activities being run.

Pillow fight fun on the Slippery Pole.

I got to help out on the Slippery Pole! Lots of fun and not one broken bone.....bonus :-) Other activities included cooking marshmallows over the camp fire, making fairy wands, playing croquet with the Queen of Hearts, making card houses with the Mad Hatter etc.

Ended up being a really fun day even though the rain kept threatening and it was bitterly cold.

Update: Squealy

Well what to say about young Squealy? He is squealing less: thankfully. He still loves going to care and seeing his girlfriend Lissy (as he calls her). He is talking heaps and has moved on from just talking about tractors and trucks etc. He now also talks about balls, cars, things that are "mine!", etc. Quite cute really.

Girlfriend: Lissy.

Here he is at Ginger & Spice (after scoffing 2 dim sims) mucking around with our new camera bag.

He was surprisingly well behaved at the restaurant, probably due to missing his day sleep today. No feral tantrums from him, String Bean must have put him off!

Mucking around outside the pool, waiting for the lessons to finish. He spent most of the time chasing Husband Deluxe around with a stick and roaring. Good fun for a 2 1/2 year old.

Sleep Over fun for Girl Guides

String Bean's Girl Guide unit had a sleep over on Friday night at the Guide Hall. Not much sleep was had but the girls had a ball, with the older girls planning and organising a rotation of activities for the younger girls in the unit. So 7 years olds running activities for 5 & 6 year olds. Suzi was our QM (quarter master) and did a great job of providing the girls with the menu that they had designed!

I love the leadership opportunities that the girls are given and the choices that they are allowed to make. String Bean is thoroughly enjoying her Guiding experience and developing excellent skills along the way. She has nearly completed her Pets badge, with one small task left to do. She also sold Guide Biscuits at the Charnwood shops on Saturday....so a very busy Guiding weekend!

Today we hit the pool having finally changed the kidlets swimming time to a reasonably well timed weekend spot. After the pool we ventured out to the Bus Depot Markets and then out to Gunghalin to purchase some much needed items.

By the time we got there the kids were starving!!! I guess swimming will do that to you, so we went to one of my favourite restaurants: Ginger & Spice.

While waiting for the food String Bean had a melt down! Pretty weird really. Probably over tired from the sleep over and def. too hungry.

She got over it but not before we took some photos! She was so annoyed that we did! hehehe.

Update: Fuzzy Wuzzy

Long time no blog so I'm going to do a series of update blogs covering a few things, just to catch up again. Opps life of a working mum is practically non existent.

This wonderful illustration came home with Fuz on Friday. This is a huge leap for him.

Going for a ride in the car.

When he was at playschool/3 year old program he started the year avoiding anything to with painting, craft or scissors. During that year he slowly started participating and he'd regularly come home with several crafty things.

This week he's come home with this drawing. I just love it, so detailed. On the back he'd had a good crack at writing his name. This has also improved significantly.

Another thing he's just recently started doing is building things using his K'nex. This morning, he made this "Flying Frog Machine" all by himself.

I love how well balanced it looks.

Such a boy thing to make!

Shining Light

As a staff we've decided to participate in the Fit to Teach program run by Shining Light. We're all really quite excited about this and have 12 participants, which is phenomenal considering the size of our school! I recieved my confirmation email tonight so we should be starting any day now.

Great way to burn off all the extra crap I ate during the Easter school holidays.
