Collector Pumpkin Festival

We decided to head out to Collector for the annual pumpkin festival. There were lots of giant pumpkins, pumpkin inspired foods and pumpkin scarecrows around.

Getting up close and personal with a scarecrow.

The kids loved the markets and the highlight was climbing into some really old cars. Old Scruffy owned a 1950's 'Riley' and our little guy loved getting into a car with his name!

String Bean loved the giant pumpkins which all the kids poked, prodded and climbed.

The Night Fury

String Bean's Night Fury Dragon.

We watched 'How to Tame a Dragon' during the school holidays and the kids loved it. When the end credits rolled Stringy said she couldn't wait to get home and draw the dragon.

She whipped this illustration up from what she remembered of the movie 5 minutes after walking in the door. She really is amazingly creative.

Reno: Our Boudoir

Husband Deluxe was so keen off the mark that I have zero 'before' photos. Two weeks ago on a whim we decided to paint our bedroom. Here are the results.

To say we're overjoyed with the results is a huge understatement. It looks stunning. Husband Deluxe decided it looks like a display home!

We used: shaded spruce for the feature wall, hazel snow for the walls and natural white (+ 2 shades) for the wood work. Unfortunately the camera isn't capturing the true colour in the photos.

We took the easy option of buying pre-made curtains from Spotlight to hang off our existing curtain rail and nice nets which I hemmed up quickly on the machine.

Rainy Day Art

Yesterday being on the tail end of rain meant plenty of time for some crafting fun.

Fuzzy Wuzzy grabbed supplies and headed for the coffee table where he created this amazing snake. He even made a nest full of snake eggs (small polystyrene balls), yellow ribbon and red crepe paper for the snake and water painted background. Googly eyes finished him off.

Fuzzy then informed me that the snakes body "is a repeating pattern because we don't have enough patterns in the house!"

Squealy made this with some help from String Bean.

Not quite sure what it is. Probably an alien or a monster.

String Bean has been keen to make a meerkat habitat since she watched a documentary at school. She went ahead and using an old shoe box made this.

Very cute. She is now waiting for her trees to dry (paddle pop sticks and green pompoms).

She made the paper!

String Bean and her friend Josie made it into the paper. The girls attended a birthday party being held by Girl Guides NSW. It is the centenary of Guiding, so on the 100th day of the 100th year a massive birthday party was held.

The girls had a fun filled day in the glorious (HOT!!!) Sydney weather.

Hmm I think someone knows me far too well. Thanks for making my day 'K' by including me in your art.

And for all the car fans out there:
mmmm. Nice!

Toga Party

We were lucky enough to be invited to another Tim and Kim extravaganza last night. It was Kim's 40th birthday and she decided to celebrate 'Toga' style.

Most people did turn up in toga's which was alot of fun.

The food was lush. Pizza's from Pizza's To Go. A mobile pizza oven on the back of a trailer! Freshly made wood fired pizza is hard to beat.

The real special touch was listening to the fabulous music played by 'Annie and the Armadillos'. They played a real mix of material beautifully. Everyone got up to dance and they spent the evening joking around with us. Really friendly and down to earth musos: always a plus.
