Reno #14: Bathroom Complete

The new craft cupboard in the laundry.
Buster's new home & heating vent (Laundry).

At long last our bathroom renovation is complete. Husband Deluxe spent quite awhile painting, installing window locks (no more daggy sticks in the windows), and just general tidying up. It's probably been finished for about 2 weeks, but I've been so busy lately that I have been neglecting my old blog!

Husband Deluxe's new study nook (laundry).
New dryer, and laundry sink.
So here it is Sam, just for you: because you asked so nicely. Karen: I haven't forgotten. I'm planning to upload the before and after spread when I have more time than I do today!

New vanity and mirrored cabinet.
Stringy and the new toilet.
So there you have it. We had a few pretty minor things almost go wrong, but we got there in the end.

New shower screen and fixtures.
Shower.

If anyone needs a bathroom or kitchen renovation completed in Canberra contact: Peter at Kitchen's Direct. We're really pleased with the quality of the renovation and so happy it is all over now.

A New Puppy...

called Scruffy, who needed a new home. String Bean had the opportunity to build this unhindered as the boys all headed out together for an adventure.

Such a creative little soul.

So cute!

Here is little Fuz. He's set himself up: kiddy chair to sit on, a dining room chair to lean on, textas and an activity book.

Watching Insider on the ABC with political commentary blaring: priceless!

An 18th!!!

Kimmy and Simmy. Overjoyed with the Birthday cake.

We were invited to an 18th last week (haven't had a second spare to post about it!) Kim celebrated in true outdoor style: BBQ, roaring fire and booze, booze, booze. Was great, esp. as there was a free flowing supply of champagne: my fave.

Husband Deluxe and Tim were on BBQ & beer duty. I was busy helping set up salads and the rest of the food.

We all had a great time and unfortunately just made me feel really old. Esp. given that all the young bunnies hung out at the fire and all us old crusties headed for the warmth inside and the comfort of the couches roflmao

Kindy Disco

String Bean had her end of Kindy disco tonight. She was so excited by the whole idea of wearing her new outfit. She looked so beautiful. Hair curled, lippy on, silver ballet flats ready to go.

Unfortunately she was about to be picked up by friends, when I decided to play photographer and she really didn't want to play along. So not the best photos of my little girl. Can't believe how quickly she is growing up!

Op-travaganza #6

I was lucky to have a spare 1/2 hour today between a course and racing back to work, so decided to use the time wisely and op shop. I could have bought and eaten lunch, or found somewhere selling a Chai (where do you do that at Coolo?)

Instead I popped into the Salvo's and was again chuffed to get some great finds.

  • 1 retro print: $4 (Fuzzy loves it!)
  • 1 black, gold and red top: $5 (String Bean has a special dress up day next week and this is perfect!
  • 1 dressy top for me: $5
Total spend: $14

Hand Made Market

Had the absolute best time today at the Handmade Market. Caught up with friends and their kids. Had a yummy, real Chai. Even on soy!!! Not so bad. Bought up big, well not so much as I did have a budget to stick to.

From Heartfelt: 2 felt rings and purses (1 each for Stringy and I) & a gorgeous penguin.

Left: a stunning scrap creation by the very talented Rebecca from Creations to Cherish. The colours and message were just so beautiful I had to have it. Loved the fact that is was on the discount rack and scored it for 50% off RRP!!! Rebecca was fabulous to talk to and I'm so looking forward to scrapping with her sometime in the not too distant future... lucky me :-)

Right: a super cute print from REDinstead handmade. I love the sentiment conveyed in this print. I especially like dot point #5: finish what you start. Oh such good advice for a Gemini.

Op-travaganza #5

Stringy and I had a bag full of stuff to donate to the Salvos, so decided to do a quick op shop this morning.

We were lucky to score today some more housey treasures and a pair of shoes for me.

Salvos Belconnen:
A pair of Novo flats, white, excellent condition: $5

A gorgeous professionally framed black and white print.

Salvos Belconnen: $10

Photo doesn't do this justice. This is a hand embroidered piece, framed shabby chic style.

Vinnies Belconnen: $5

Total spend $20.

Merry Go Round

Husband Deluxe and I decided to take the kids into the city on Sunday. They were so well behaved we decided to treat them to a ride on the Merry Go Round.

I hope that this Canberra icon keeps being maintained and looked after. It was around when I was a toddler and have fond memories of riding on it. Not that we went to the city much, usually just to visit old Dr Andrea who was our dentist at the time.

I also have fond memories of riding on it with my high school friends when we were out and about catching a movie on a Saturday night. Ah now I'm starting to feel really old hehehe.

Father's Day '09 #2

Husband Deluxe thoroughly enjoyed Father's Day, receiving a nice mix of gifts handmade by the kids and items chosen carefully.

Favourite gift is probably The Flight Of the Conchords season 2 DVD set.

Flappers and Gangstas

Our good friend celebrated his 40th on Saturday night. Theme: roaring 20's party. Everyone dressed up. He'd converted his deck with little tables, balloons and fairy lights. Looked and felt like a wedding reception.

Was a great night with a fun vibe. Mr B and Husband Deluxe spent a lot of time crapping on 'easy speak' style. Was cute.

Father's Day '09

The kids school put on a special Father's Day breakfast for all the Dad's. Husband Deluxe went along and enjoyed some quality time with the older two.

The kids can hardly wait to give their Daddy the gifts they have carefully made and chosen. Will update on Sunday.

Race Around the Corner

String Bean and I attended the bi-annual District Camp last weekend. It was held at Majura Primary and practically all of the Murrungundie girls attended ( 60+ girls and 20 leaders and unit helpers).

The theme was a 'Race Around the Corner' with the girls doing a scavenger hunt, following clues, answering questions and taking photos as evidence. My Patrol, Northbourne Avenue, won the Scavenger hunt! String Bean's patrol, Floriade, came second for collecting points.

The weather was crap. It rained and blew a gale but the girls had a ball. They had to catch buses around the place and the first destination for us was King Edward Terrace. We walked all around the area (thankfully we all had raincoats) and ended up at the Sculpture Garden at the Art Gallery.

The race ended at 5.30pm and we all joined up to have a meal out at Dickson. Was a fabulous camp, great idea and venue. Glad I wasn't organising it: huge amount of work!

Another lost tooth.

String Bean is really growing up, loosing her third tooth. The top one. She looks like a jolly pirate with this tooth missing. She struggled with this one falling out, as it was twisted up and in the end was quite painful.

We'd just read her the Charlie and Lola book and she was certain that the tooth fairy actually bought you a gift & money!!!!

She was pretty happy to receive her $1 though, thankfully.

Op-travaganza #4
